At StartMail, we’re committed to protecting our users’ privacy while fully complying with Dutch law.
We will never cooperate with any voluntary surveillance programs. Under the current laws that protect the right to privacy in Europe, European governments cannot legally force service providers like StartMail to implement a blanket spying program on their users. Should that ever change, we will use every legal avenue to resist.
If government dragnet snooping worries you, StartMail is a secure and reliable choice.
Under Dutch regulations, we also cannot comply with specific requests from foreign law enforcement officials, and we will always reject such requests. StartMail will exclusively process requests that have come through the appropriate Dutch judicial authorities and have been verified as legitimate. Dutch authorities may very occasionally cooperate with foreign counterparts when the specific request aligns with international legal standards under Dutch law.
