Front-end developer, The Hague (NL)

Hi, we’re looking for a talented front-end developer. Apply quickly if you think privacy is as important as we do and want to help build our new Progressive Web App (PWA) email client!

We are StartMail, a Dutch email provider with a mission to make email as secure and private as possible. We embrace old, proven technology like PGP (GPG) as well as very new like the serviceworker API and are building a real PWA.

What will you do at StartMail?

You will be working in a small team in The Hague, building our new webmail client. Our existing mail application will be replaced, including the back-end. You will be the first front-ender on the pay-roll and will therefore have great influence. The app we are working on is a responsive JavaScript app using Vue.js. You will be developing on top of a JSON/REST API + websockets together with our UX designer and two great, external front-enders.

Who are you?

You are an experienced front-end developer. You know everything about HTML, CSS and JavaScript and have built a web-application bigger than a tutorial-blog. Experience with Vue.js, mobile-first design and knowledge of IMAP and/or SMTP are bonus points.

What can you expect from us?

StartMail has been around for a while and is part of privacy search engine StartPage.com which was founded in the late 90s. We’re working on StartMail with a small and close team in The Hague in kind of a startup culture. We’re using Gitlab and Jira for development, Gitlab CI, Ansible and Fabric for automation, packaging and deployments. You work on your choice of Macbook Pro or Dell XPS laptop. We have offices, no noisy open-plan stuff, lunch together every day, easy commute situated directly next to The Hague Laan van NOI train station, we offer a competitive salary and a chance to build a cool app with new technologies to fight for the privacy rights of all of us.
